Allison Playdon, MHC

Allison provides individual therapy for teens and adults who are ready to address depression, anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder, eating disorders, neurodiversity, and trauma, whether ongoing or rooted in the past. She is also a strong ally and advocate of the LGBTQI community. She helps individuals develop healthier thinking patterns, coping strategies, and communication skills. Clients often find that Allison helps them gain insights into how their past experiences impact their current lives and relationships - finding connection to their inner child to promote healing. 

Allison believes the therapist's role is to meet clients where they are on their healing journey while gently encouraging their growth. She strives for genuine connection and seeks to collaborate with clients to set meaningful goals for lasting change, balancing her role as both a human and a therapist. 

Allison’s journey ranges from supporting children and adolescents in an inpatient hospital setting. college counseling center, assisting students with mood disorders, eating disorders, and the transition to adulthood. Most recently, she worked as an outpatient therapist in an integrated center focused on the intersection of substance use and mental health.

Allison works with a broad range of clients but has a particular focus on adolescents and young adults. Throughout her training, she has advocated for the LGBTQIA+ community and has supported military children and families, addressing the intersectionality of trauma, LGBTQIA+ identities, and neurodiversity

Allison utilizes an eclectic approach in therapy, incorporating person-centered, psychodynamic, and emotion-focused techniques interweaving aspects of DBT, CBT, and ACT Additionally, she is expanding her knowledge of ERP for individuals working through OCD.
