Nada Plooster, LICSW
Nada provides individual to children, teens, and adults struggling with various difficulties including unresolved trauma, attachment deficits, adoption or foster care trauma, systemic oppression, childhood abuse or neglect, grief, spiritual crises, relationship ruptures, and behavioral problems.
Diagnoses are one way to identify symptoms that cause suffering, but it's crucial that we also view from the lens of how our brain and body process information, store experiences, and often trap extreme beliefs, emotions and sensations associated with distressing experiences. Nada honors that, in most cases, clients are doing the best they can with the creative and unique adaptations their brain and body have made to survive and navigate the challenges that have been placed in front of them.
Combining compassion, humor, and a high regard for cultural humility, she views clients as collaborative and active participants in therapy from determining goals, to speaking openly, setting boundaries, and offering feedback. Clients and therapists should work together to restore the power and capacity to choose, feel, and live.
Nada uses Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, EMDR, and adjunct approaches to support clients' healing from overwhelming feelings, thoughts, and body sensations. She received her Master's of Social Work from Brigham Young University in 2012, certified in EMDR in 2017, certified in Trauma Sensitive Yoga in 2023, and has worked at various agencies and capacities including the Emergency Room, group private practice, and the child welfare system. She will become an EMDR Consultant in September 2023.
